Eagles 2021 Training Camp Day 8 Notes

The Eagles had a shorter practice yesterday and have an off day tomorrow, so the expectation was that the practice would be longer and more detailed today. I'm not sure about the detailed part, but the practice was noticeably longer.

Let's get to the notes.

  1. The Eagles waived CB Shakial Taylor before practice. He had been dealing with an injury and it is believed that his roster spot is freed up for Alex Singleton to come off the COVID list.

  2. Ryan Kerrigan was limited with a thumb injury, Brandon Brooks is day-to-day with a hamstring strain, Jason Croom is day-to-day with a knee injury, Michael Walker is day-to-day with a foot injury, Isaac Seumalo is week-to-week with a hamstring injury, DeVonta Smith is week-to-week with a knee injury, Davion Taylor is week-to-week with a calf injury and JaCoby Stevens is now week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

  3. Davion Taylor was seen wearing a boot as he observed practice.

  4. John Hightower went to the medical tent early in practice. He came out of the tent but did not practice for the rest of the day.

  5. Jalen Reagor and Darius Slay had some great battles in 1on1s. Reagor got open on Slay on a slant and made the catch. Then, he made an impressive leaping one handed catch over Slay for one of the best plays of camp so far.

  6. A few plays after, Reagor made another great move on Slay but dropped it. It's nice to finally see a bit of the explosiveness that the Eagles expected to get when they drafted him at #21.

  7. Zech McPhearson had a pass breakup on a slant by Andre Patton.

  8. Quez Watkins froze Lavert Hill on a double move in 1on1s.

  9. Miles Sanders fumbled the ball in the 11on11 drills. Ball security continues to be an issue dating back to last season for Sanders.

  10. Jalen Reagor caught a downfield pass from Joe Flacco in 11on11s and Nick Sirianni ran down the field and celebrated with him.

  11. Greg Ward took advantage of broken coverage and caught a ball on the run from Flacco for a touchdown.

  12. Jordan Mailata dominated again in 1on1 drills. He is by far the winner of the LT position 8 days into camp.

  13. JJ Arcega-Whiteside made a catch over the middle vs. Michael Jacquet for a 15 yard gain(from Flacco).

  14. Jalen Hurts hit Reagor in tight coverage against Steven Nelson for a catch.

Player of the Day: Jalen Reagor

Since the practices have been more short recently, I've decided to do a player of the day for each day's practice. Today's is Reagor by far, as he made many impressive catches only a few days after Nick Sirianni really got on him for some bad reps. Even if he had a drop in those 1on1s, just seeing him be able to get open is a positive in its own. We'll see if he can keep it up AND stay healthy through the preseason games.
