Eagles vs. Steelers Preseason Preview
The day is finally here.
The Eagles will be playing at Lincoln Financial Field, in front of fans I might add, for the first time since January. Although this may only be preseason, it's just great to have football back once again.
There are many things that fans can be looking forward to in tonight's game, especially Jalen Hurts' performance. It's no secret that Jalen Hurts will be the starting QB for the Eagles this season, so tonight will be the first chance we have to see Hurts in some live action in a long time. I would not be shocked if Hurts and the offensive unit in general are a little rusty, given that it is a new system playing their first game together.

The other big point of emphasis in tonight's game should be Nick Sirianni. I am interested to see how his offense runs in general, and how his coordinators do as well. Jonathan Gannon is a very hot name in football right now, so it is expected that this defense will perform much better then they did in 2020. The offense has been struggling in practices recently, so it is up to Shaine Steichen and Sirianni to try to weather the storm.
Here are 5 Players I am excited to watch(obviously not including Jalen Hurts):
Tyree Jackson

The Quarterback converted to tight end has been putting on a show in camp, and can use the preseason to potentially steal a roster spot. Dallas Goedert and Richard Rodgers are essentially roster locks at this point, and pending a Zach Ertz trade the Eagles could keep Jackson if he impresses.
Jalen Reagor

Reagor has had an interesting camp so far, dealing with a failed conditioning test and then the death of a childhood friend. But going into Year 2, Reagor is going to have to impress to make the organization think he is a part of their future. He's been better as camp has gone along, and he needs to take that momentum into today against Pittsburgh.
Quez Watkins

Its no secret that Watkins has been one of the biggest stories in camp so far. The former 6th round pick showed flashes at the end of last season, and is primed for a potential breakout season. Wether he is playing in the slot or on the outside, preseason is a perfect time to show the coaching staff that he deserves more playing time.
Milton Williams

I was very critical when the Eagles picked Williams with their 3rd rounder, not because I thought Milton was a bad player, but because I believed they had bigger needs and better options at that point. Milton has surprisingly been rotating inside and outside at camp, making him a definitely interesting option for Gannon. With Ryan Kerrigan's injury, everyone on the D Line will have a chance to maybe get more playing time.
Zech McPhearson

Although it seems that Avonte Maddox, Steven Nelson and Darius Slay have locked up the cornerback spots, McPhearson has been fighting for playing time all camp long. Scouting reports were all over the place when the Eagles drafted him in the 4th round, but many had him as a really high upside pick. I don't think it is incredibly farfetched to say that McPhearson could overtake Maddox at the slot corner if Maddox struggles. He'll get his first chance to prove himself in an NFL game tonight.
Tonight's game is at 7:30 PM and will be broadcasted on NBC10.
