Flyers need 2 points against the Islanders

The Philadelphia Flyers are on the road again as they will go to New York to take on the New York Islanders in a one-game series. The Islanders made a huge trade yesterday, with the trade deadline approaching. They acquired from the New Jersey Devils both Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac, surrendering only a first-round pick, a conditional fourth-round pick. A strong trade right before the deadline on April 12. However, we don’t know the status of Palmieri and Zajac for tonight’s match.

The Flyers have had a decent start to April so far. They currently have 3 points so far in April with a loss, and to lose, and a win. They need to keep pushing and rack up some wins here soon or their playoff hopes are just going to fly away.

The Flyers still have yet to name a starter for tonight’s matchup against the Islanders, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Elliot in net tonight. Elliot has been the better of the two goaltenders this season, which is concerning on the part of Carter Hart. Hart is 8-10-1 on the season with a goals-against average (GAA) of 3.88. It has been a rough season for Hart and he hasn’t had the best defense in front of him either. With that being said Elliot is playing with the same defense in front of him as well. Hart is broken and the Flyers need to fix him.

Tonight should be a competitive night for the Flyers however, they are taking on one of the best teams in the conference tonight. The Islanders added to their already strong roster, which is scary for the other teams. The Flyers need to be on their A-game for tonight if they want to pick up 2 points.

Players to watch:

For the Flyers my players to watch tonight are Joel Farabee and Shane Gostisbehere.

Farabee has been on a hot streak as of late and he is one of the leading offensive players for this team. Farabee has had a good track record against the Islanders and he will look to keep his hot play up tonight

For Shane, he has been in a little bit of a slump. That will change tonight. Shane needs a good stretch of games here in the next coming days, overall it hasn’t been a good 2021 campaign for Ghost but he does have good stats against the Islanders in his career. I look for Ghost to crack the scoreboard tonight and start a good run of games he needs so badly.
