Flyers rout the Kraken
After coming off of a brutal loss to the Vancouver Canucks in overtime, the Philadelphia Flyers looked to bounce back against the new kids on the block the Seattle Kraken. Let's grab a look at how the bout was battled.
The Flyers got off to a hot start in the first period scoring a total of three goals. The captain Claude Giroux got the scoring started early in Philly as he went bar down to open the scoring.
Then shortly after the Girouxs goal, Travis Konecny would get his own rebound and beat the Kraken goaltender on his glove side to make it 2-0.
Then a couple of the new guys wanted in on the fun, when put the puck towards the net good things will happen as Derick Brassard casually tossed the puck towards the net and it bounced off of a defender and went into the net. This would be Brassard's first goal as a Flyer.
Carter Hart also made some fantastic saves in the first period as well. Hart looked sharp tonight only allowing one goal. So far so good for the young netminder.
In the second period, the scoring from new guys continued as one of the bigger acquisitions Ryan Ellis would net his first as a Flyer. Ellis made a fantastic read going to the net and beating the goaltender through the five-hole.
Finally to cap off the scoring in the second period, defensemen Justin Braun would shoot the puck on net and the goaltender couldn't handle it as it would trickle on in for the fifth goal of the night for the Flyers.
The Kraken would get one back but that didn't shake Hart at all. Hart was electric tonight between the pipes.
In the third period, Joel Farabee would score his second goal on the season as he would also go bar down to extend the Flyers lead to 6-1.
Last night's game looked like the old Flyers. There was energy from the bench and the guys really showed what it meant to welcome someone to broad street. The Flyers looked like a complete team in this game from the goaltending to the defense to the forwards. Flyers Hockey is back.
The Flyers will look to ride this momentum into the next game as they take on the Boston Bruins on Wednesday at 7:30 at the Wells Fargo Center.
