Matisse Thybulle is taking international basketball by storm
As basketball fans attention directs to the finals series between Suns-Bucks, some of us are paying attention to the exhibition games of olympic basketball between the USA, Australia, Argentina, Nigeria and Spain. As a sixer fan, i'm watching Matisse Thybulle debut as a Boomer - Australian Men Basketball Team- and let me say HE WENT OFF.
In their first game against Argentina, Matisse debuted with 15pts, 4 steals and 3 blocks. He led the team to a 87-84 victory alongside Patty Mills and Joe Ingles. Matisse showed up more on the offense than the defense.
On their second scrimmage against a star-studded Team USA, Thybulle once again led the Boomers to the US second straight loss with 12pts, 3 steals and 3 blocks. One of their major highlights of the game is that block against Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard. Australia won 98-94.
In the third game against Nigeria, Matisse had his first start with the team while the rest of their starters rested until the next one. Thybulle had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and two steals. The major stars of the game were Jock Landale (14pts, five rbs, two blks) and Nathan Sobey (15pts, four rbs, five ast). Also the one who standed out more was the NBA Draft prospect Josh Giddey with 14 pts. Australia had a major win with 108-69.
Sadly they didn’t play their last scrimmage against Team USA due to health concerns after Bradley Beal and Jerami Grant were placed in the health and safety protocols. Team Australia left an undefeated score of 3-0.
And for the cherry on the top. Matisse came back to the vlogging world with his series “Road to Tokyo” where he shows his experience with the team during training and scrimmages.
