Phillies, Brewers series preview
Well, folks, we are in the most important month for the Phillies, September, in recent history the Phillies have struggled in September when they are in the playoff race.
Coming off of a shacky series against the Marlins, the Phillies will look to bounce back against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers are hot right now and have momentum going into this series as yesterday they walked off the Cardinals with a walk-off slam from Dan Volgelbach to win 6-5.
The Phillies will show Zack Wheeler today, Aaron Nola, tomorrow, and Kyle Gibson on Wednesday.
This is a big outing for Aaron Nola who really needs to get going here in the last stretch of the season. Nola, in his career, has played some of the worst baseball in September with an ERA over 5.
The Phillies will see Bradon Woodruff today, Eric Lauer, tomorrow, and Freddy Peralta on Wednesday. The Phillies really struggled last time against the brewers when they played these starters. Hopefully, they can get an important series win and stay in the wild card and division race.
The Phillies have had some huge performances from some of the young guys like Matt Vierling the Catcher Rafael Marchan. Both have been clutch the past few games forget Phillies and their playoff push.
Overall, the Phillies need to find a way to win this series. The Phillies starters need to go at least seven innings every start because the bullpen is taxed right now. This series will show if the Phillies mean business.
