Phillies Rockies Series Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies will hit the road for a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies. The Phillies have been off to an exciting start to the season. They currently hold a 9-9 record and now sit in 2nd place in the National League East right behind the New York Mets.

The Rockies have been off to a rocky start to the season. They currently hold a 6-12 record and sit last in the National League West. Overall their team is struggling in all departments of baseball. Their offense is cold, and their pitching is terrible as well. The Phillies need to take all three games in this series.

The Phillies signed Greg Garcia: a veteran 31-year-old infielder, to add some depth to the Phillies, who currently are thin in the infielder department. Nick Maton and Mickey Moniak have looked good since their call-ups.

The Phillies will rollout Vince Valeaquez for their first game today. Vince has been off to a horrible 2021 campaign, and I am surprised they are giving Spencer Howard a shot in the starting rotation. Let us hope we can see a good start out of Vinny V in the first game.

Then they will turn it over to their ace Aaron Nola in the second game of the series. Nola has been on fire to start the season, and he will look to continue his success in the 2021 campaign. He will be opposed by Antonio Senzatela, who has an awful start to the season. He relies on his movement to get hitters out, but he can’t get any hitters out. He is 1-3 with a 5.40 Earned Run Average (ERA).

Then the Phillies will go with Chase Anderson in the rubber match of the series. He has been ok so far for the Phillies. He is a hit-or-miss starter; you never know what start you will get out of him. The Rockies will send out their ace John Gray: who has been off to an excellent start for the Rockies. He has a 2-1 record with a 2.42 Earned Run Average. The Phillies will be in for a tough one against Gray.

In all honesty, the Rockies have had a bad start to the season, and the Phillies need to sweep the Rockies in this series to get back in the right direction. Bryce Harper is hot, along with Maton. The Phillies need to string some wins together to get back on track in the early stages of this season.
