Phillies Rockies series Preview
We are entering the home stretch for the run at October baseball and the Philadelphia Phillies are just two and a half games back of the National League East Division race. They are also three games back of a wild card spot.
The Phillies need to go on a run and get hot. This team has put themselves in a position where they can either succeed or fail. They play the Rockies in a four-game series that should be a winnable series for the Phillies.
Now granite the rotation has to do well and Aaron Nola has been an absolute letdown so far as he gave up six runs in his last start. He needs to get his you know what together if the Phillies want to go on a run. Nola will get the ball Sunday in the series finale.
Bryce Harper has been on a tear recently. In the last two weeks, Harper is hitting .382 with six homeruns and sixteen runs batted in. Harper also has a .462 on-base percentage and a .818 ops. Harper is up for the National League MVP race and he is making a case to win the MVP.
There is a little bit of mystery with the probable pitchers for both sides as the Phillies have yet to name a starter for Friday's game and the Rockies have yet to name a starter for both Saturday and Sunday's game.
Also, Zach Eflin will have surgery and will not return this season. This was a brutal loss to the rotation and we hope Zach has a full recovery and will be good to go next season.
Both Luke Williams and Andrew Knapp are out as well with illnesses. Luke Williams began a rehab assignment yesterday 9/8/2021.
Now the Phillies playoff hopes are in their hands. It is up to them if they want to play in October or if they want to sit at home and watch the playoffs.
Hopefully, Nola can turn it around and the Phillies can get hot. Need everyone on this roster to get hot.
